Location: Chicago, Illinois
Date: 1972 - 1978
Crime: Known as 'Killer Clown', raped and murdered thirty three young boys, burying twenty nine of them in a small, crawl space beneath his home. Was eventually caught after an intended victim survived and remembered portions of the route Gacy took en-route to dumping him in a local park. The victim later lead police back to Gacy's home where he was arrested, convicted and ultimately put to death by lethal injection.
Biography: Gacy was the second of three children born to John Wayne Gacy, Sr. and his mother Marion. John Jr., was overweight and un-athletic which contributed to a very troubling relationship with his abusive father. At the age of 11, Gacy suffered a blow to the head which led to the formation of a blood clot which went undetected until he was 16 years old and began suffering from blackouts. After graduating from college, Gacy met and married a co-worker. The Gacy's ended up in Waterloo, Iowa, where he managed the local KFC. He was first arrested in 1968 for sexually assaulting two teenage boys. He was sent to prison, shortly after which his wife filed for divorce. Gacy would never see his children again. After being released from his prison sentence early for good behavior, he moved back to Chicago to live with his mother. Over the next several years, Gacy was charged several times with battery against young boys, but incredibly, each time the charges were dropped. In 1972, he married again, but that union ended in divorce in 1975 after his wife began to find gay pornography around the house. This triggered an escalation in his murderous activities, until his eventual arrest in December 1978.
