Crime: This British serial killer, lived in London and served in the British Armed Forces. He was known as 'The Kindly Killer' and is credited with the particularly gruesome deaths of 15 men and boys.
Biography: Born, November 23, 1945 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, Nilsen was eventually raised by his grandparents after his parents divorced when he was just four years old. It is said that his grandparents were very strict, and Nilsen himself claims that the first traumatic event in his life was when his grandfather died. After school, he enlisted in the British Army and became a cook, serving for 11 years. Nilsen committed his first murder in December, 1978. His fourteen year old victim was brought back to his home where they spent the night drinking. In the morning, Nilsen decided it would be better to kill the boy instead of letting him leave. He found most of his subsequent victims in local gay bars, and always took them back to his home before killing them. Once they were dead, he would butcher the bodies and dispose of them down the drains, or bury them in his yard. He would also keep some of the victims in plastic bags in his closet or under the floorboards. Nilsen was eventually arrested for his crimes after a plumber, who came to the residence to clear blocked drains, alerted police to the unusual bones and flesh that he found in the drain blockage.
