Crime: Gerald Stano was an American serial killer who picked out hitchhikers as his victims. These people, isolated and vulnerable, would be picked up by Stano and then driven to a deserted location. Stano would then use a variety of methods to dispose of the victims, including strangulation and stabbing.
Biography: His spree lasted from the 1960s to the 1970s, and he was eventually caught in 1980. Stano was sentenced to life in prison, where he languished for some time, generating a large amount of media interest. Eventually, he was executed, by means of the electric chair, in 1988.
