Crime: Kaspars Petrovs was convicted by a Latvian court of the murder of a total of thirteen women. He was initially charged with thirty-eight murders.
Biography: A homeless man for many years, he was the son of a prominent doctor. In February 2003 he was held by authorities for the murder of five women, but he later confessed to over thirty individual murders. He strangled their victims after gaining entry to their homes by posing as an employee of the gas company.
